Another year older

Thanks for all the great Birthday cards this year! I think they get funnier as I get older. And I'm all about laughing about it instead of crying! Today is an extra happy day for me because I beat my 10K time after all. I guess reverse training works for me! My final time was 58:23. I was so exited to go home and tell Jim and the kids about it and show off my medal (which all runners get, but still!). But my medal was nothing compared to the Mustard Yellow Belt on their minds. Every 4th I run and Jim and the kids watch the hot dog eating contest. In case you missed it, Joey Chestnut beat Takeru Kobayashi for the second year in a row! They both ate 59 hot dogs in 10 minutes , but Chestnut triumphed in overtime!I'm pretty sure his stomach hurts as much as my legs do!

Then and Now

When Nelson was a baby I tried to imagine what he would be like when he was 6, or 14, or 25. Well, we made it to 14! As I was looking through photos for a birthday post, I just couldn't believe how much he has changed...and stayed the same!

He used to play in his sand box for hours. Now he digs holes to keep himself out of the wind while he works on his tan!

The pedals used to be so far away! Still the only car I'll let him drive.

Going backwards is still one of his favorite tricks!

Where did my dorky little knobby-kneed, underwear boy go?

Still smacking his head on stuff. Used to be scratches and a bandaid...now it's gashes and staples.

Used to love his mom and dad and think we were the greatest people on earth. Now he is sure we exist just to mortify him and make his life miserable!

Easter eggs are sooo little kid. Now he's matured in his eyeball props!

As a baby he wasn't quite sure about accessories. Now he knows how to make the look work for him!

His ocean used to be a happy bath with ducks and boats. Now he prefers shark infested water!

Loved him them, love him even more now. Attitude and everything! Happy Birthday Nelson. Better late than never!

Fatboy

Happy Birthday Mom & Paula!

Today is my mom and sister's birthday! We celebrated last weekend when I was in SoCal. But this super cute kid on the horse is...me, of course, with my sister, Perfect Paula. She's awesome! And when she checks my blog (probably in mid-July) she will know how much I appreciate her for always looking out for me, teaching me to ride a horse, bringing home jawbreakers from Farrell's, and all the other awesome sister stuff she has done and still does for me!

And for my mom, who could have and probably should have strangled me too many times to count, Happy Birthday! You are the best mom I've ever had, as my kids always say! I love you!
